The Saint Helena Breviary: Monastic Edition reflects years of work by the sisters of the Order of St. Helena in revising the language of our breviary for inclusive and expansive language. The Monastic Edition is the same edition in use in the convent of the Order of St. Helena. It contains the complete breviary with music and a guide to saying and chanting the Daily Office. There is a fixed Office for each day of the week, on a two-week cycle, including the antiphons, canticles, hymns and psalms appointed for each day, as well as for feast and saints' days and for liturgical seasons . Its size is approximately 9" x 6".

By request, we are now making available online the "Office Guides" for using the Saint Helena Breviary. To view a guide, click on one of the links below. (These files are in PDF, and to view them you will need to have the Adobe Acrobat reader installed on your computer.)

Reader comments:

"Thank you so much for the beautiful icon cards. They are lovely and will be perfect to include with the psalters I plan to give to friends.... I know that both of them will appreciate the St. Helena Psalter as much as I do."

"I started praying the hours using Phyllis Tickle's books andfound that very enriching. I found out about the St. Helena Psalter through the website Prayingdaily.blogspot.com. I ordered the Breviary because I wanted to read the non-sexist language of your services. THANK YOU to you and all the sisters who worked on these projects--it is so meaningful to me to have the language just flow."

The Saint Helena Breviary: Personal Edition is a somewhat abbridged edition which does not contain the music or seasonal antiphons that are included in the Monastic Edition. The Personal Edition is set up in the same way as the Offices in the Book of Common Prayer and the Psalter is presented in numerical order at the back of the book. The appointed lectionary is also printed in the back of the book.

The antiphons for the saints in Common 2 were unfortunately omitted from the Saint Helena Breviary: Personal Edition. These antiphons are available here to print or download in PDF format.
